Chapel Couture

A 11 track leftfield/idm album (43m 11s) — released March 20th 2020 on Post Office Records

Originally released back in September 2003, Chapel Couture gained extensive airplay on BBC Radio 1's 'John Peel Show', 'Mixing It' on BBC Radio 3 along with international airplay on the likes of WFMU in the USA.

The album was toured through 2004 into early 2006 in a series of live shows with film throughout the UK along with a show at Netmage '06 in Bologna, Italy.

Ministry of Defiance specialise in lo-fi electronica, with a sound that now is often termed hauntological.

The music has been compared to such luminaries as Coil, Mount Vernon Arts Lab and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. whilst their film work utilises Super 8 and found film cut up techniques, creating an exhilirating and enveloping sonic visual experience.

In the meantime, here's the Ministry of Defiance. Mathematicae. - John Peel BBC Radio 1

This is prope DIY electronica, done without a care for the whims of outsiders. There are few people around making music as honest as real as David Handford. - Noel Gardner Soundnation

Appealingly brittle. Feels like it was recorded in winter 1979 and held in cold storage. - Ian Penman The Wire

As organic and spiritually menacing as a triffid bearing down on you with a maw full of religious pamphlets. I could compare it to all sorts of things from Throbbing Gristle to Mount Vernon Arts Lab, but it doesn't really sound like anything else. You should hear this. - Duncan Bell Muzik

Sinister organic synth instrumentals with disjointed voices worthy of the BBc Radiophonic Workshop. - Craig Sparky Viva Sparky Fanzine

Some pretty epic stuff going on here. Quite intimate and soundtracky at times, energetic and aggressive at others. - Smallfish Smallfish
